Second Chance to Blossom

Sally is 50 and on her way to the sea, sun and summer blossoms, in Starfish Bay, Coromandel. This will be a well-deserved break after an intensive few months dealing with a long-term relationship breakup, a career change, and a major family drama. Her nieces and her older sister are also coming, to celebrate family and friendships, and help Sally clear the old house she had just inherited from her estranged father. The house she had run away from 30 years ago, and had not been back since, and for a good reason.

She is bracing herself for a summer of old memories, good and painful, that she is ready to face, but she has no idea that the man who had been asked to help with the renovation of the house is an old sweetheart. Sally left him behind 30 years ago and has never had contact with him for a good reason.

Andy is a family man, even though a widower with no children of his own. He is busy helping his extended family and friends, still feeling indebted after all the love and support he has received from them over the years. So when his next potential job turns out to be an old bach he had last seen when his then-girlfriend had dumped him… he can’t do anything else but walk away. He doesn’t want to repeat the heartache.

But the old house needs immediate attention, and Andy feels compelled to help, Sally despite her tries can’t do it alone, so they work together to fix the bach, rediscovering themselves, and each other again. However, the echoes of old scars still linger between the hammers, nails, funny banter and their love for art. Will they dare to open their once-broken heart to love again?

Second Chance to Blossom is not only a second chance and a later-in-life (clean) romance; it’s also a tale of reconnecting and reconciling with your past, reinventing yourself, the healing power of art, which celebrates family, friendship and the beauty and richness of New Zealand’s nature and culture.
